Bournemouth International Airport Guide

Bournemouth Airport was originally an RAF base, RAF Hurn, but is today a fast growing commercial airport serving a wide variety of holiday destinations. The Airport is just five miles north east of Bournemouth. It is easily accessible by road via the A338 dual carriageway.

Airlines currently flying to and from Bournemouth Airport include Air Berlin, Blue Islands, easyJet, Palmair, Ryanair, Thomsonfly and Wizzair.

Passenger numbers are expected to treble over the next ten years. The recent redevelopment that has started to improve facilities at the airport is just the start of plans that aim to see the airport grow in size to cope with increased demand. However, these plans, that include the addition of a new terminal, have already met with some opposition locally as the New Forest National Park is on its doorstep.

Facilities within the airport buildings include a small choice of refreshment outlets including a bar and cafes, shops, currency exchange and wi-fi hotspots.

Bournemouth Airport Car Parking

The airport has short stay and long stay car parking right near the terminal. The short stay car park is adjacent to the terminal and with the first ten minutes being free it's handy for dropping passengers off.

Blue badge parking is available in the short stay car park (Car Park 1) in designated bays adjacent to the terminal. There is also a help terminal in Car Park 2 which connects you direct with the Information Desk so you can organise provision of a wheelchair (free of charge) and assistance with luggage. There is a sliding scale of charges depending on the length of your stay. You can either you're your ticket and pay for parking before you exit the terminal or pay be credit/debit card at the barrier on your way out. You can also book parking online via the Bournemouth Airport website, link right.

Airport Transfer Bournemouth

Getting to and from the airport is now made a lot easier with the introduction of the Bournemouth Airport Shuttle. Shuttle buses run every hour from Bournemouth town centre to the airport between 7am and 7pm throughout the week including Sundays. The journey takes just fifteen minutes.

Buses call at the Bournemouth Travel Interchange (handy if you're arriving by train), East Cliff, The Pier, West Cliff and The Square. Taxis are available from the rank at the Arrivals exit. United Taxis serve the airport and are usually in attendance. Tel: 01202 556677. However, other local taxi firms will also run you to and from the airport.
