Hunters Moon is a traditional mid eighteenth century former coaching inn which was refurbished in 2003, and is family and dog friendly. You will find it to be an outstanding place to visit whether for a refreshment stop, snack, leisurely meal, overnight stay or for a base to stay and explore the exceptional Dorset countryside and coastline. As well as our excellent reputation for accommodation, Hunters Moon has a fantastic reputation for home cooked food and can be found in the Good Beer and Good Pub Guides 2009. Our menu includes pub favourites such as Beer Battered Cod, slow roasted lamb shank and golden scampi along side pastas, pizzas, a grill section and our specials board. We offer carvery dinners on Friday evening and Sunday lunch which are always popular and pre-booking is recommended. Our well kept real ales have been commended by the Good Beer Guide and are accompanied by a wide range of wine served by the glass, spirits and non-alcholic beverages.

Rooms Description

Here at Hunters Moon, we have 8 tastefully appointed en-suite bedrooms, 4 of which are doubles and offer shower, television and tea / coffee making facilities. The other 4 are more spacious with a king size bed and comfy sofa as well as shower, television and tea / coffee making facilities. Hairdryers can be found in each rooms, whilst irons and ironing boards are available upon request. These can be used as either double or twin rooms. Alternatively they can be transformed into family rooms with the sofabed suitable for either an adult or a child. Camp beds and travel cots are available upon request. We also have dog-friendly rooms. All of our rooms are suitable for one night stays or longer and can be reserved for groups and prices include a full English breakfast accompanied by tea / coffee, cereal and toast.

Specialities

Situated on the A352, between the historic towns of Sherborne and Dorchester, we are an ideal base for exploring the local countryside and coast line. Weymouth, Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach, Durdle Door and Lyme Regis are all within an hours drive of the pub. Minterne Magna (National Trust Gardens) and Cerne Abbas (the Giant on the hillside) are within a 5 minute drive, and Monkey World is easily accessible. We are also only a 10 minute drive from the Southern Counties Shooting Ground and only 5 minutes from 2 large fishing lakes -- Revels and Lyons Gate.
