An 18th Century, grade II listed self catering holiday cottage in the picturesque conservation village of Sutton Poyntz, otherwise known as 'Overcombe' in the Thomas Hardy novel 'The Trumpet Major'. The cottage enjoys a peaceful location alongside the pond where ducks swim beneath the branches of the green willow, this character cottage has been tastefully renovated yet still retains its original historic charm. The fine beach and award winning attractions of Weymouth can be found just a short drive away. Climb half a mile west to the Iron Age fort of Chalbury or walk east across the fields and chalk downlands to the famous White Horse.

The oak front door leads directly into the living room of this 18th Century cottage which features an original brick and stone fireplace with inset gas fired wood burning style stove. This room is complete with TV with video and DVD, CD player with digital radio and ample comfortable seating. The adjacent kitchen/dining area is well equipped with fitted units incorporating washing machine, microwave, refrigerator, electric oven and hob, toaster and electric kettle, plus all the necessary cutlery, crockery and utensils. There is a table which seats 4.

Rooms Description

The main bedroom can be configured as a twin or double and has a window which overlooks the main mill pond. The compact second bedroom has a four foot bed and enjoys views over the rear garden.

Specialities

One well behaved dog is welcome but we ask that these are kept downstairs. The cottage is non smoking but ashtrays are provided in the garden. Babies are welcome and camping cot, highchair and stair gate are available on request.
