The local parish church of St Peter and St Paul was built in the late nineteenth century and is one of the most spectacular in Dorset. The village of Evershot lies a little further distant and has a good range of amenities including a post office, shop, bakery and inn. The historical town of Beaminster can be found eight miles away and has over 200 listed buildings at its centre.

West Dorset covers over 400 square miles and is almost entirely designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is much to see and do in the local area including villages like Abbotsbury, Chesil Beach with its fabulous views, Nettlecombe and Cerne Abbas, famed for the chalk giant. At the heart of villages in the area, visitors will find tea rooms, good pub food and small stores selling local produce. Lovers of the great outdoors will find no shortage of activities within easy reach including cycling, fishing, golf, walking, horse riding and game shooting.
